Higher Education Financing Agency capital base enhanced to Rs. 10,000 crores :- CCEA has also approved proposal for expanding the scope of Higher Education Financing Agency or HEFA by enhancing its capital base to Rs. 10,000 crore and tasking it to mobilise Rs. 1,00,000 crore for Revitalizing Infrastructure and Systems in Education or RISE by 2022.

SC denies full statehood to Delhi; asks Delhi Govt & LG to work with mutual coordination :- The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the constitutional provisions regarding the role of the Lieutenant Governor in a Union Territory. The apex court was ruling on a batch of appeals filed by the Delhi government challenging a Delhi High Court order which hold the LG as the administrative head of the national capital.

Farmers’ overjoyed by MSP hike :- Besides the Prime Minister, BJP President Amit Shah, and many Union Ministers described the decision on MSP hike as historic. Farmers have welcomed the decision to increase MSP, while economists believe it will boost the economy as well.

Cabinet gives big boost to farmers’ incomes; MSP on 14 Kharif crops raised to over 150% of input costs :- The cabinet approved an increase in MSP of 14 Kharif crops for the 2018-19 season. The increase is between 150 to 200 percent of the input cost. The input costs were calculated by the Government’s price advisory body Commission for Agricultural Costs & Prices.

HM Rajnath Singh on two day visit to Kashmir :- Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is on a two day visit to Kashmir. He is scheduled to arrive in the afternoon on Wednesday and will have few meetings in Srinagar.

Govt warns WhatsApp over abuse :- The government on Tuesday directed WhatsApp to immediately take steps to prevent the spread of “irresponsible and explosive messages”, saying the social media platform cannot evade its responsibility, amid a spate of lynching cases purportedly triggered by posts circulated on such popular messaging apps.
