UGC NET 2017 result declared on January 2, 2018 for the examination held in November 2017. The results can be checked on the official CBSE website i.e. cbsenet.nic.in. The examination was held in 91 cities at 1700 examination centers. As per the reports, there were over nine lakh applicants, out of which there were 4, 09,439 males, 5, 19,557 females and 3 trans-genders.
Revised Criteria for the Upcoming Year Regarding Result of UGC-NET
Due to the declining trends of result from 2015 to 2017, which dropped down to 3.99% in 2017 from 4.83% in 2015, UGC revised its criteria and declared that 6% of the total examinees will be declared qualified from future. Earlier the qualifying candidates were chosen from top 15% of those candidates in each subject and category who secured minimum qualifying marks in all the three papers according to their category.
Qualifying Percentage of Appeared Candidates in the Previous Years of CBSE UGC-NET:
In June, 2015, the percentage of the qualifying aspirants was just 4.83 percent and in the month of December, 2015, the percentage increased a bit and was raised to 4.96 percent. In the next year, July 2016, the percentage went down a little and was 4.08 per cent.
Last year, January 2017, the percentage of the qualifying examinees dropped to 3.99 percent. The drop in the percentage of qualifying aspirants is a topic a concern and therefore to increase this percentage it was decided that it should be increased to 6.
CBSE UGC NET is a national-level eligibility test and is mandatory for the candidates who are willing to teach in the universities and college. The examination also sets a standard for selecting candidates into PhD programs. Since thousands of teaching posts are vacant in high education, so, reduction in number of students will have an adverse impact on employment. Therefore, many of the professors advise to conduct NET twice a year as it will give more opportunity to the students.
