“Indian Railways Group C & D Recruitment for Scouts & Guides Quota – Eligibility, Dates, and Application Process”

The North Central Railway (NCR) has announced job openings for individuals with Scouts & Guides qualifications. This recruitment is specifically for Grade C and Grade D positions within NCR under the Scouts & Guides Quota for 2024-25. Candidates meeting the criteria can apply online before the closing date.

Position Details

The vacancies are available in the following categories:

  1. Group C (Level 2) – 2 posts across NCR
  2. Group D (Level 1) – 6 posts, distributed across Prayagraj, Agra, and Jhansi divisions

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Educational Qualification
    • Group C: Candidates must have completed their 12th grade with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent. For certain technical posts, ITI is also required.
    • Group D: A minimum qualification of 10th grade or ITI certification is required.
  2. Scouts & Guides Qualifications
    • Should hold a President’s Scout/Guide/Ranger/Rover certificate or a Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB).
    • Must have been an active member of a Scouts organization for at least 5 years.
    • Must have attended at least two national or all-India level events and two state-level events.
  3. Age Limit
    • Group C: 18 to 30 years as of 1st January 2025.
    • Group D: 18 to 33 years as of 1st January 2025.
    • Age relaxations are available for reserved categories as per government rules.

Application Process

  2. Documents Required
    • Certificates related to educational qualifications and Scouts & Guides achievements.
    • Passport-sized color photograph in Scouts/Guides uniform.
    • Caste certificate (if applicable).
    • Proof of active membership in Scouts for at least 5 years.
  3. Application Fee
    • General Candidates: ₹500 (₹400 refundable if appearing for the exam)
    • SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PWDs/Women/Minorities/Economically Backward Classes: ₹250 (fully refundable if appearing for the exam)

Selection Process

  • Written Test: 60 marks covering Scouts & Guides topics, general knowledge, and an essay question.
  • Certificates: 40 marks based on certificates and achievements in Scouts & Guides activities.

Syllabus for Written Test

The syllabus includes:

  • History and organization of Scouting/Guiding
  • Law & Promise
  • Scouting flags, motto, anthem, and various events
  • Scouting activities such as hiking, camping, community service, and proficiency badges
